2011 – Premiere of Arthur Pita’s The Metamorphosis at the Linbury Theatre

Arthur Pita’s The Metamorphosis is based on Franz Kafka’s dark tale in which Gregor Samsa, a travelling salesman, awakes one morning to find that he has been turned into a monstrous insect. His mother, father and younger sister respond to his transformation in very different ways. Pita’s use of Edward Watson’s extraordinary physical flexibility and intense stage presence made for a compelling production. The production was first performed at the Royal Opera House’s Linbury Theatre in 2011, with music by Frank Moon and designs by Simon Daw.
