Henri Duparc (1848-1933). French composer
Henri Duparc was a French composer who specialised in song. He studied with César Franck at the Jesuit College of Vaugirard and began composing of songs and some orchestral works. He was, however, intensely self-critical, destroying most of his works in 1890. His surviving songs are Romantic and written with sensitivity, with great drama within the French melodies, which inspired choreographer Michael Corder to use some of the songs for L’Invitation au Voyage.
