Frederick Ashton choreographed Les Rendezvous for the Vic-Wells Ballet in 1933, with Alicia Markova and Stanislas Idzikowski as its first stars. Friends meeting and greeting in a park on a lovely summer’s day can never have been more cleverly captured in a ballet.
