Contemporary dance group Second Stride was founded in 1982 by choreographers Richard Alston, Siobhan Davies and Ian Spink to extend their opportunities in creating new work. Continuing until 1987, the company presented a number of successful pieces, including Alston’s Doublework, Davies’ Plain Song, and Spink’s Canta and Heaven Ablaze in his Breast.
