2001 – Premiere of Christopher Hampson’s Double Concerto by English National Ballet

Down Arrow

A hugely enjoyable abstract work set to Francis Poulenc‘s Concerto for Two Pianos and Orchestra, Double Concerto sealed Christopher Hampson’s reputation as a choreographer of real promise and talent. He confidently used 38 dancers in a ballet of genuine exuberance and panache. First performed in 2001 at the Manchester Opera House in designs by Gary ‘Fido’ Harris, the original cast included Daria Klimentová and Jan-Erik Wikström.
