Patricia Miller (1927-). South African-born dancer and teacher

Patricia Miller was born in Pretoria, South Africa. After studying in Cape Town with Dulcie Howes, she came to London to the Sadler’s Wells Ballet School in 1947 and then the Sadler’s Wells Theatre Ballet, where she remained until 1956. Whilst there, she created a number of roles for John Cranko.

On her return to South Africa, Miller taught and danced in Cape Town until 1963. She then danced elsewhere in South Africa, including as ballerina in Durban from 1968 until 1973, and thereafter as assistant director of the company there.
