Nicholas Georgiadis (1923–2001), Greek-born artist and theatre designer.
Nicholas Georgiadis initially trained in architecture in Athens and New York before coming to London study theatre design at the Slade School of Fine Art. There, he met the young choreographer, Kenneth MacMillan, who commissioned Georgiadis to design his first professional ballet for Sadler’s Wells Theatre Ballet, Danses concertantes. Completely in tune with the other, MacMillan and Georgiadis collaborated on an extensive number of productions, including House of Birds, Noctambules, The Burrow, Agon, The Invitation, Las Hermanas, Romeo and Juliet, Song of the Earth, Swan Lake, Manon, Mayerling, Orpheus, The Sleeping Beauty and The Prince of the Pagodas. In addition to his work with MacMillan, Georgiadis also designed productions of Swan Lake, The Sleeping Beauty, The Nutcracker, Don Quixote, Raymonda and The Tempest for Rudolf Nureyev, Daphnis and Chloë for John Cranko, and Intimate Letters for Lynn Seymour. He also supervised the recreation of original Ballets Russes sets and costumes for the 1980 feature film Nijinsky, directed by Herbert Ross and starring George de la Peña.
