Max Richter (1966-). German-born British composer and musician
Max Richter is a German-born British composer and pianist who writes in a post-minimalist, contemporary classical style. He studied first at Edinburgh University, followed by the Royal Academy of Music, and his works range from ‘recomposing’ Antonio Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons in 2012 to creating music for film and television, as well as for dance and theatre. He created Im Anderem Raum for Semperoper Ballett Dresden in 2013, Exiles for Nederlands Dans Theater in 2016, and Infra in 2010 and Woolf Works in 2015 for Wayne McGregor and The Royal Ballet. His works are pioneering in their use of electronics, multimedia, and abstract concepts.
