Marianela Nuñez (1982-). Argentinean ballerina

Marianela Nuñez was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1982. From the age of six she trained with the Teatro Colón Ballet School and began dancing with the Teatro Colón company when she was 14. Nuñez came to The Royal Ballet School in 1997 and joined The Royal Ballet in 1998, becoming a soloist in 2000 and a principal in 2002 when she was only 20.

During a long and distinguished career with The Royal Ballet, Nuñez has performed all the leading roles in the classical and contemporary repertoire. She has also created many roles, including in Infra for Wayne McGregor, in Aeternum for Christopher Wheeldon, in Viscera for Liam Scarlett and as Carmen for Carlos Acosta in his ballet of that name. Marianela Nuñez has also appeared as a guest artist internationally, including New York, Milan, Vienna and Buenos Aires.
