Joby Talbot (1971-). British composer and musician
Joby Talbot is a British composer whose eclectic, modern compositions have been used widely across film and television, as concert music for voice and instrument, opera and dance. In 2005, he was commissioned to write Chroma for The Royal Ballet choreographed by Wayne McGregor. Further dance scores include Genus (Paris Opéra Ballet) and Fool’s Paradise (Morphoses, The Royal Ballet) for Christopher Wheeldon. In 2011, The Royal Ballet commissioned Wheeldon and Talbot to create the company’s first full-length narrative ballet in nearly 20 years, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. The work was hugely popular and is currently in the repertory of nine major ballet companies. Talbot has also written Wheeldon’s The Winter’s Tale and Like Water for Chocolate for The Royal Ballet.
