Hayden Griffin (1943–2013). South African-born theatre designer

Hayden Griffin trained at the Durban College of Art and the Motley Theatre Design Course in London where his tutors included Jocelyn Herbert. He designed many plays and operas, but in dance his work is chiefly associated with the choreographer David Bintley, for whom he designed ‘Still Life’ at the Penguin Café, Hobson’s Choice, Cyrano, Far from the Madding Crowd and the Bintley/Galina Samsova production of Giselle for Birmingham Royal Ballet.
