Erling Sunde (1927–2006). Norwegian-born dancer and teacher
Erling Sunde was born in Norway in 1927. He danced with the Norwegian National Ballet, Western Theatre Ballet and Maurice Béjart’s Ballet de l’Etoile. In the 1960s he became a principal teacher with The Royal Ballet Touring Company. He was highly respected by the dancers and helped to develop the company into a powerhouse of exceptional dancers. Sunde left England in 1971 to teach at the United States International University in San Diego, California, where he was greatly respected. Sunde eventually returned to Norway and died there in 2006.
