Charlotte Talbot (1973-). British dancer and teacher

Charlotte Talbot was born in Sheffield in 1973, where she studied ballet under Louise Brown. At the age of 16, she went to the Central School of Ballet in London, and subsequently joined Northern Ballet Theatre. At that time the organisations were both directed by Christopher Gable, with a particular emphasis on dramatic works. Talbot became principal dancer with the company (where she remained following Gable’s death) under the directorships of Stefano Giannetti and David Nixon. She was particularly acclaimed for her portrayal as Juliet in Massimo Morricone’s Romeo and Juliet and as Cathy in Nixon’s Wuthering Heights, both of which roles were created on her. Talbot’s husband is the composer Claude-Michel Schonberg, who wrote the music for Wuthering Heights. Since her retirement from the stage, Talbot has worked as a guest ballet mistress and rehearsal director with Northern Ballet Theatre, as well as serving as a Governor of Central School of Ballet..
