Bennet Gartside (1977–). British dancer

Born in Lancaster in 1977, Bennet Gartside started dance lessons at the Sharon Harrison School of Dance before joining The Royal Ballet School at the age of 11. His first performance on the Royal Opera House stage came the following year when he was a page in Kenneth MacMillan’s The Prince of the Pagodas. He danced in Frederick Ashton’s The Two Pigeons alongside Laura Morera at his graduation performance in 1995, and joined The Royal Ballet that year. He became first soloist in 2007 and principal character artist in 2017, and has continued to explore the huge, demanding and diverse repertoire of The Royal Ballet, as well as having many works created on him over the years. Interested in film as an artform, Bennet Gartside is also the manager for The Royal Ballet’s Video Archive.
