Anna-Marie Holmes (1942-). Canadian dancer, teacher, coach and director
Anna-Marie Holmes was born in Canada in 1942. She studied on several continents with eminent teachers, including Audrey de Vos and Errol Addison in London, Felia Doubrovska in New York and Natalia Dudinskaya, Alexander Pushkin and Alla Shelest in Leningrad. She subsequently danced with many companies in the United States of America, Europe and, as the first North American dancer to do so, as guest with the Kirov Ballet in Leningrad from 1962 to 1963. Holmes has set and produced the great works from the classical repertoire worldwide. She was artistic director and dean of the Faculty of Dance for Boston Ballet from 1985 to 1997. Anna-Marie Holmes continues to coach, produce ballets and work as a judge, both in North America and abroad.
