Formed by the then Royal Academy of Dancing to give stage experience to young dancers and choreographers, the Production Club gave Sunday performances that provided Robert Helpmann and John Cranko with their first choreographic opportunities. Other notable choreographic names associated with the club included Mary Skeaping and Andrée Howard. The Production Club also organised lectures on choreography and stagecraft. The venture closed in 1958 after the resignation of Ursula Moreton as chairman and other creative differences between its committee members.
